SILVER PAVILION Antwerp
In the design of the MAS – by Neutelings-Riedijk – the four pavilions were kept as transparent as possible. The concept of Crepain Binst Architecture maintains and strengthens the transparency by grouping the various pieces into a number of showcases placed parallel to the existing sight lines. To do justice to the finely detailed silver objects we designed nearly six meters high pavilion showcases as space defining elements from floor to ceiling. The oversized dimensions of the display cases – more than four meters high, nearly six meters high – not only refer to elements in the immediate vicinity (the MAS, the Scheldt, the docks) but also to the industrial activities of umicore.
