IMPLANTOLOGY PRACTICE MERCHTEM
CBA was asked mid 2010 to design a building for Periodontics – implantology practice on a lot located in the heart of Merchtem. The challenge was mainly in the formal and functional integration in the typical Flemish Street, characterised by different heights, construction lines, materials and shapes. The building was so formal, but also functional, divided into 2 volumes to match the different neighbouring buildings. The white, fresh opaque volume covers technical and office spaces, the transparent part houses are all practice areas. urthermore, the opaque volume was lifted 1 level to create a parking space, the transparent volume pulls itself back from the street to create an entrance area. Thanks to the different building heights and roof shapes by the two volumes we get a terrace area on the transparent volume, which is an extension of the private area in the opaque volume. By the division in 2 volumes the building subtle integrates and understated in the street. On the other hand the white fiber cement plates of the opaque volume makes sure that the building has an iconic character for patients and visitors.
