Warehouses enjoy the particular charm of industrial authenticity and are, because of their wide ceilings and openness, very good office buildings with maximum flexibility in the long term. Additionally they occupy the street as real monuments and as representatives of their age. As an apotheosis on the roof and in contrast with the building, an aluminium lining glows like a silver coat around a U-shaped high living space with a view on the Schelde. The optical concrete partitions and wood-textured ceiling wrap around the space like a cocoon for current living. Long window surfaces reveal the panorama to the cathedral and the city. The whole forms the framework for an experimental feel and deals strikingly with contemporary art, design and literature.
