HQ ‘DE PERSGROEP PUBLISHING’ KIEVITPLEIN ANTWERP
The headquarters of ‘De Persgroep Publishing’ (DPP), will definitively base itself on Kievitplein in Antwerp in an iconic and interactive working and living temple.
The design was created following an intensive design strategy within the project brief of an open competition.
The “genius loci” of the site was elaborately studied and translated into an international architecture icon that provides exceptional interactions with the square.
The currently unused Kievit site will, with the winning design by Crepain Binst Architecture, generate a new vibe at both the Kievit side and the Pelikaanstraat and therefore the complete station environment. The sculptural expression functions as a joint between the existing building and the already developing urban environments at the Van Immerseelstraat. The building offers a generous public ground floor and mezzanine in which a restaurant, coffee corners and diverse multi-media popups will embody the 24/7 economy of De Persgroep Publishing. The facades are conceived all-round which renders every facade equally worthy. The materialization of the building is based on sustainability and contemporary materials that express the international character of DPP.
Higher up the design accommodates 4 royal accessible rooftop gardens that add to the living and working atmosphere of hundreds of employees and visitors. The building’s crown at +/- 50 meter is finished with a belvedere that offers a 360 panorama of the City and her immediate majestic station environment.
