Early 2014 the construction of the project ‘CADIX C2’ will start, a project by Crepain Binst Architecture ism evr-Architecten and a competition winner in 2011. The proximity of the harbor and docks have been defining valuable imagery for the Eilandje. It’s the ambition of this project to express these characteristics anew in the current and future development in the Cadix area. Diverse housing typologies are on offer to attract and accommodate a variety of inhabitants. The sustainability of this project moves beyond energetic requirements, a conscious decision was taken to create low energy apartments and passive single family homes. Within the housing range the design team has aspired to create an optimal mix of social housing,  modest as well as larger houses with extra attention for typologies suitable for families with children. Traditionally these are thought of single family houses with a garden, which we have defined in the C2 project, but a family house might as well be a spacious apartment with ample outdoor space, such as a roof terrace or roof garden. New housing typologies like multigenerational dwellings and life-time living are also incorporated in the proposed mix.
