RESIDENCE HOOGHUYS EKEREN
The Hooghuys was built in the middle of the 19th century and will be fully restored respecting the original architecture. In the Castle, three spacious apartments are organised. A half sunken floor provides these with wellness, fitness center & wine cellar. The site is enhanced with two detached new build volumes of ten units that in scale and footprint compatible with the Hooghuys. The massing of the new buildings refer to the formal language of mansard roofs and complement the context. The volumes are conceptually translated into one continuous material (white brick) and worked out as sculptural and contemporary ensemble without losing the relationship with the historical context.
