‘GROEN ZUID’ Hoboken
Green South is a new residential area of 600 units on the old Scanfil site in Hoboken. Masterplan in collaboration with Stramien. The new development offers affordable living in a healthy mix of houses and apartments. The space between railway and residences will be redeveloped as a neighbourhood park. Three towers with serviced flats close the edge of the park. 7 green fingers infiltrate the new residential area from the park.
These fingers are alternately semi-public residential gardens and public pedestrian streets. Almost all residential parking will be solved underground. The ragged edge of the site is completed by closed urban blocks. The central residential gardens are enclosed on both sides by parallel housing ribbons. Every ribbon will consist of several housing types placed next to each other to form a varied composition. High and low. Narrow and wide. The objective will be to find a successful balance between unity and diversity.
