CAMPUS GASTHUISBERG Leuven
More then ever, universities aspire to architecture as a basis for the extension or new development of a faculty. From a competition formula this design was selected for the new development of an additional faculty for the Catholic College of Leuven. On the site of Gasthuisberg – in full development – this building will further border an open spot on the crescent avenue to a coherent whole of one large urban development medical network. The sloping area forms the basis for the arrangement of the auditoriums as educational anchors sunk into the landscape. The glass socle covered with a bar code of concrete fins, carries the toothed bricked sculpture of class wings and patios. One large agora of stairs and voids on the side of the circulation core forms the backbone and bookend of the building.
